Black History Celebration

Saturday, Feb. 21 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. | Robinson Park

Pasadena Parks, Recreation, and Community Services | City of Pasadena | Pasadena Black History Planning Committee

Join local schools, community groups, elected officials, dignitaries, neighbors, and friends at the 44th Annual Black History Festival at Robinson Park, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. This event is sponsored by the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Black History Planning Committee. The festival features live entertainment, youth performances, community resource booths, food trucks, and tons of fun!

Celebrate Black History: From 1865 to Juneteenth!

Friday, Feb. 27 | 4 - 5 p.m. | Hastings Branch Library

Join us for a special Black History Month program featuring the talented artist John Barge! Discover the powerful journey of Black history, from 1865 to the celebration of Juneteenth. Artist John Barge will guide students through this crucial period, highlighting key historical dates and milestones in a unique, engaging presentation.

Youth Executive Board

DENA Youth-Adult Partnership Network

Location: Pasadena, CA

Pay: $20

Part Time

Ages: 16-24

The Youth Executive Board (YEB) is a group of young people (16-24) from Altadena + Pasadena that will work together to create systems where youth are driving change. We’re looking for youth who are ready to make a difference in their communities. This opportunity is open to those who live, work or go to school in Pasadena or Altadena. You must be eligible to work in the United States and, for those under 18 years old, you must be able to get a work permit from your school (we will help you with the process).

3D Illusion Transmitter

Friday, Feb. 13 | 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. | Santa Catalina Branch Library

Celebrate Valerie Thomas’ birthday month with us! Valerie Thomas is an American scientist and inventor who worked at NASA from the 1960's until she retired in 1995. She invented a way to transmit 3D images using concave mirrors and patented it in 1980. NASA still uses her technology today! Join us to make a simplified version of the 3D Illusion Transmitter yourself!

Ghibli Party

Saturday, Feb. 14 | 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. | Jefferson Branch Library

Bring a friend and bring your love for this beloved film studio and enjoy games, photo spots and crafts dedicated to some of your favorite films.

All Abilities Game Days

Tuesday, Feb. 17 | 11 a.m. - noon | La Pintoresca Branch Library

Adults and teens of all abilities, and their caregivers/coaches, are invited to join us for fun, easy games like Bingo and Lotería. Win prizes and have fun with your friends! Walk-ins welcome, and if bringing a group of 5 or more please contact La Pintoresca Branch Library: 626-744-7268.

Library Art Collective: A Teen Creative Hour

Friday. Feb 19 | 3:45 - 5 p.m. | Allendale Branch Library

Come to Allendale for an art focused study hall after school. Use the time to focus on your latest masterpiece or share work with your peers and hang out. Inspiration and some art materials provided but bringing your own is encouraged.

Simply Yum Cooking

Saturday, Feb. 21 | 2 - 3 p.m. | Hastings Branch Library

Join us for an in-person cooking demonstration at the library with home cooks and library staff, Claire and Magela, as they share recipes and kitchen tips. Participants will learn about cooking with an emphasis on seasonal and healthy food choices. For ages 9+. Attendance is limited, and advance registration is required. Please register every individual in your party, including kids.

Pokémon Night for Teens!

Monday, Feb. 23 | 4 - 6 p.m. | Hastings Branch Library

Come in to trade and battle with all the official Pokémon platforms! Bring your main line titles, your TCG and Pocket pulls, and even your Pokémon Go finds, its all about meeting other trainers who love Pokémon just as much as you do! Participants can even walk away with a few goodies by the end of the night so everyone's a winner!

Movie & Craft

Saturday, Feb. 28 | 2:30-4:30 p.m. | Santa Catalina Branch Library

BRING YOUR OWN CRAFT and watch a movie (check in with the branch to see what movie is playing this month). Socialize and relax with other art people and maybe even finish that scarf you’ve been working on since last year!

Video Game Club

Thursdays | 4:30-6:30 p.m. |

Hastings Branch Library

Stop in for gaming on the Nintendo Switch. Make new friends while playing games. New experiences and engaging social interaction every week. Must play well with others. Drop by and join the Video Game Club! For ages 14-19. No registration required.

Rooted & Rising: Black Future Leaders Conference

Friday, Feb. 27 | 9 am. - 2:30 p.m. | Pasadena Community College

We are excited to invite your student to participate in Pasadena City College’s Black Future Leaders Conference, a powerful and affirming gathering created specifically for our middle and high school Black youth.

Nearby Library Closures

Altadena Libraries

Starting February 1, the Altadena Main Library is closed for renovation, with an estimated closure of 14–18 months. The Bob Lucas Memorial Library and Altadena Library at Loma Alta Park.

Sierra Madre Public Library

Starting January 31, both the temporary and permanent Sierra Madre Library locations are closed to the public through May 31, 2026.
During this time, staff are merging the temporary collection with their main collection, which has been in long-term storage. Sierra Madre library cards will continue to work for their online resources.

The ROSE Program (Realized Opportunities through Skillful Employment) is a paid internship for Pasadena youth and young adults ages 14-24 residing in low to moderate-income households. Internship assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis and include the fields of recreation, day camps, police, clerical, technology, and more.
