You probably noticed that the newsletter looks a tiny bit different. Well, that's because it is! Welcome to our newly redesigned teen newsletter. I'm excited to share our refreshed look and continue to bring you updates on upcoming teen programs, volunteer and job opportunites, and more. Whether you've been with us for a while or just joining, I'm glad you're here—enjoy exploring what Pasadena has going on this month!

The Teen Advisory Board is putting out a call for submissions! Selected works will be published in The Rose, their citywide literary magazine.

K-Pop Demon Hunters: Rise, Create, Dominate!
Saturday, Nov. 8 | 2 - 3:30 p.m. | Jefferson Branch Library
Join the hunt to save the library from mischievous demons stealing all the color and creativity! Kids will work in teams to solve clues, create their own magical light sticks, and battle the final boss with trivia and teamwork. Along the way, kids will unleash their inner idol with K-pop-tivities: sing, dance, decorate, and trade photocards. Create bias bracelets, collage with K-pop albums, make buttons, or chill with music videos. Reading, crafts, and adventure come together in this exciting program.

Fall Youth Fest
Sunday, Nov. 16 | 2 - 5 p.m. | Harambee Ministries
Join us for an afternoon filled with food, games, music, raffles, activities, and more! This event is not just about fun — it’s also a space for you to share your voice, meet other youth, and be part of something led by your peers.

Paper Marbling
Thursday, Nov. 6 | 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. | Allendale Branch Library
Learn about the Japanese art of Suminagashi. Create beautiful, marbled patterns by using hydrophobic inks, a tray of water, and paper. Drop different colored inks into the water and create different patterns by mixing and manipulating the ink. Each hydro-dipped paper will create a unique pattern.

LIGO, The Gravitational Frontier
Friday, Nov. 7 | 4-6 p.m. | Hastings Branch Library
Ages 9-14. In this program, we will discuss gravity and the detection of gravitational waves via Caltech’s LIGO Laboratory. Through engaging activities (such as interactive models of spacetime and LIGO’s lasers), students will understand how gravitational waves arise, how they are detected, and what they reveal about the universe.

This is a vendor event so most things will be items for purchase. However, I think it's a fun event where you can walk around, window shop, and listen to music! Featuring 200+ local, hand-selected artisans, you can expect to find trendsetting indie goods including original fashion and jewelry design, paper goods, innovative home decor and housewares, art, photography, food, and much more.

Teen Advisory Board
TAB is a group of library teen volunteers who take an active leadership role in implementing programs, promoting, and advocating for youth services in Pasadena. Help make an impact and join! 
  • Participate in discussions, committee work, and pre-meeting assignments (this may include additional volunteer shifts).
  • Advise staff, pilot programs, and services for teens.
  • Attend monthly meetings (first or second Saturday of the month,  2-4 p.m.); Meetings take place at Jefferson Branch Library.
  • First three-monthly meetings are required.
